Bay Area Peace Forum

Bay Area Peace Forum – About Us

Bay Area Peace Forum was established as a way to coordinate the efforts of the Universal Peace Federation of the Bay Area, the United Religions Initiative, and the United Nations Association of the East Bay, along with a growing number of Peace and Interfaith groups towards the common goals of Peace on every level, from the internal level within an individual, to the broader levels of the Family, Society, Nation, and World.

Our first conference was held at the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology in September of 2009. It brought together for the first time representatives of the interfaith, United Nations, and Non-proliferation communities. Speakers included Rev. Paul Chaffee, then Executive Director of The Interfaith Center at the Presidio, Amb. Tom Miller, then President of the UN Associationā€USA, Prof. David Holloway of Stanford University, a Specialist on Nuclear Weapons & Disarmament, and Ms. Sarah Talcott, then Youth Director for the United Religions Initiative.

Our second conference was held at the Pacific School of Religion in September of 2011, and included such notables as Herb Behrstock of the United Nations Association, East Bay, Paul Chaffeem editor and publisher of The Interfaith Observer, Maha ElGenaidi, Founder & Chief Executive officer of the Islamic Network, and Rev. Charles Gibbs, Executive Director of URI (United Religions Initiative).

We look forward to expanding this and other efforts for peace and reconciliation, and to seeing you on November 15th and beyond.
